Great day so far!

I love people.

I am building a house and I go by there every day on my way to work to meet with the sub-contractors and check on everything. This morning when I got to the site I noticed a empty spot where I had 175 10' 2x4 studs the day before. Great! Someone had convieniently decided that they needed them more than I did. Thats some serious cash down the drain.

It is a new subdivision but there are a few other houses in it, but no one saw anything. Since there are a bunch of houses being built in the area, it could have been anyone. Aparently it happens all the time in areas where a lot of new homes are being built.

Now I get to call the lumber yard and have more delivered while the guys have nothing to do for the next hour.

I guess I need to build some sort of security cam setup, but they would probably steal that as well.

Who knows, maybe the contractor is spec'ing a house himself and decided to subsidize the cost with your lumber

That sucks...we were checking out mid-construction houses in a new subdivision, walking around one of them with a flashlight at night (hello, police!) and a piggy stopped us (naturally) to see what was going on. He was fine with it, but said that a lot of people steal things around there, including equipment and supplies.

Split personality!

I was wondering why I woke up this morning wearing shoes with dirt and sawdust on them! 😉

On the bright side, things could always be worse.

A few weeks ago things were going so well that my house burning down would have been a welcome distraction.

atleast you'd get insurance money...

is it a lot of lumber ? You can't mark it in some way ? At least that way someone else close by won't be so willing to claim it for themselves.

LMAO!!

Doesn't your construction insurance take care of theft? My lended made me have insurance when I built mine. Just a thought.

Mine does, but I have a $1500 deductible.

Anyone have any ideas on a motion detect PC cam setup that I could stick out there?

There are some cameras that only require power and an ethernet connection. No pc required. Maybe even build a directional wifi antenna to your house 😀

on my route to work, there's 2 huge houses being built. They were wide open for a few months. Then one day there was a fence stretching across the front of the property. They probably had some stuff go "missing" too. Damn thieves :|
