Hi all,

Where do you recommend to go to get the best rate on international currency exchange rates? I have a few thousand dollars that I need to convert to pounds sterling.

TIA.

It doesnt matter that much from one place to another.
Be prepared to get raped on the exchange to Sterling no matter where you go. It's expensive.

Usually you'll get preferred pricing (close to interbank) depending on the amount.

Exactly how much USD do you have?

Ross(WO)MAN, are you in the midst of an identity crisis? ;):p

More seriously, the amount at the other end is 3,500 GBP so I will transfer whatever is needed to cover that. The current interbank rate is ~1.59 USD/GBP which is horrible, although it is declining as the dollar strengthens. When I had to transfer 5,000 GBP to USD a couple of years ago the rate was 1.39 USD/GBP.

Does anyone have any experience of bidding on currency?
