Well now there goes iHop. Over zealous manager is probably going to cost the company a bunch of bucks because gay groups will try to guilt the company over it claiming it happens all the time and that the company's employees need sensitivity training.

Then again, if you had a resturaunt and customers complained what would you? What if they walked out because you took no action? Of course you just have a rule that no kissing is allowed in your store but it would seem silly to have such a sign eh?

I would have simply asked them to stop the PDA, and then gone on about my business. Then, if they continued the PDA in an attempt to be purposely disruptive, I would have asked them to leave.

Kicking them out without a polite request for cessation is absurd.

then again, I'd never complain about seeing two women kiss, so this scenario is difficult to fathom... 😀

This is a marketing opportunity that IHOP is passing on. Think of the college crowd they could bring in. GGW: IHOP edition. Another million dollar idea down the drain.

"Family restaurant" is obviously code for bigoted, gay-hating bible thumpers. Unfortunately for iHop this will result in a back-lash against the company as a whole even though it only occurred in a isolated franchise.

I would disagree. It is perfectly OK for any restaurant to frown upon excessive PDA, regardless of the sexual orientation of the couple(s) involved. they have every right to set a dress-code and/or lay down some reasonable rules for behavior within their establishment.

That said, the example in the OP clearly does not involve excessive PDA, so the manager did overreact and make a mistake.

As for repercussions against the entire IHOP franchise? I sincerely doubt this incident will make a dent in their profits. Now, if they make a habit of such mistakes, or the media jumps on-board to loudly backup the gay agenda in this case; then yes, it could become an issue for IHOP down the road...

we'll see.

^^ are you the one the Manager kicked out?

just kidding but I couldn't resist...

Fire the manager and send a pair of high quality battery powered dildoes to any of the patrons who were offended 😀

In my own opinion there is nothing wrong with what IHOP did. They are true in the regards that it's a family resturant. I can tell you though if it was a kiss between a man and a woman (which happens all the time) probably nothing would happen. But honestly in my own opinion I don't want to be in IHOP with my family and my daughter happens to see two lesbians kising each other. Then I have to explain to her what's going on. Unfortunatley that particular PDA was not and still is not really well accepted in society.

Why is it that every time there is a thread about gays someone has to play the religion card?

Only in ATPN would two wrongs make a right. :disgust:

You only object to explaining the kissing to your daughter? "Daddy why are those two girls kissing?" "Honey, they are just fond of each other." Simple to answer, but your real problem is much deeper.

What percent of religious people would you estimate as using the words "immoral" when speaking about homosexuality?

Didn't Bush and the religious right just do all they could to stop Gay People from getting married on religious grounds

If you polled all people who have a problem with homosexuality.. I wonder how many of them would say they are religious?

Or the bigger problem.. they say they believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ.. I wonder if Jesus would label and marginalize and hate on people who are homosexual?

I can understand how horrible it must be for you to have to explain to your daughter that there are people out there who are different. I mean, the words "Not everyone is like mommy and daddy," would just get stuck in your throat. And the trauma to your daughter would be unimaginable.

Those different people should just stay hidden.

Yes, I have a problem with gays, so what, that is my personal opinion/belief and luckily everyone in the US is entitled to theirs. I'm sure everyone in that resturant had the similar problem. They simply told the manager what was going on without displaying their personal beliefs and assumed the manager would have their way of thinking. In which case he had their way of thinking and obviously and told them to leave.

So if you have a problem with Atheist, Bikers or Girl Scouts your complaint should be enough to have them thrown out of the Restaurant?

You can't, they can do whatever they want. But in this case the manager used the PDA thing as a front to what he actually wanted to say (e.g. We don't want gays in here). I'm sure though on that particular day IHOP was filed with old gen, bible thumping republicans.

Did they go to IHOP to eat pancakes or play grab ass?

Maybe if the gay/lesbian culture wasnt flaunted in peoples faces people wouldnt complain.

Go to IHOP, eat your pancakes, go home and lickity split like a champ. Everyone is happy.

We can always hope.... Since asking them to act civil is obviously too much, lets shoot for the second option.
