Gray's Papaya

I saw it on a hot dog show, people seemed to love it. I don't really know anyone in NYC to ask, plus i prefer Chicago style 😛

Was a staple of my weekly lunchtime meal during my poor college student days (NYU - went to the one in the Village). It still is a staple of my meals every few months.

My g/f, a fan of Gray's as well, jokingly wants me to propose to her there. (Well, at least I think she's joking... 😱 )

Been going there since I Was like 5 or 6 (I'm almost 21 now). Their hot dogs are delicious, and they have interesting drinks to choose from. The recession special is a great deal 🙂 Good place for a nosh.

Their dogs are so much better than the street vendor crap. Bought a dog from a vendor a little while back and it was gray and I could not tell what it was made of.

yup-recession special with everything, mustard and ketchup and papaya juice. They did raise the price recently. My bro went to NYU so he would go there, but we went to Sahara East (hookah bar) we usually take a trip to Gray's.

this is a dumb question, but last night on a seinfeld rereun, Kramer was saying how he wanted a certain type of hotdog from a special place, is this the place he was talking about?

yup 11th and on 1st. always fun to go. I reccomend Bahama Breeze and Strawberry hookah, and turkish coffee or mint tea.

Gray's is some good cheap eats, good stuff.

Even more memorable having witnessed a crazy Hayabusa vs. Accord accident when stopping to grab a $2.10 special after stepping out of Fat Beats (the record store a couple doors down on 6th between 8th and 9th). There were 'Busa plastics all over the intersection and the rider (looked like he was wearing a waiter's uniform or something) was dazed for a good 15mins but not seriously injured. Accord: 1, 'Busa 0. 😀

But yea, good dogs there.

A great hotdog from Nathan's Famous at the original Coney Island is better than any of those nasty, overrated Papaya places. Gray's Papaya juices are a bit watered down too... and who the heck drinks papaya or coconut juice with a hotdog?! eep.. my stomach can't handle that combo. (I just stick to good ol' cola)

If I wanted a great hotdog I would get a Boar's Head hotdog with natural casing. That is the top of the line when it comes to hotdogs.
