Gray lines across screen

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 997DF monitor. I have it set to 1600x1200 70hz. For some reason, I am getting gray bands coming down the screen, but they seem to skip some horazontally randomly across the screen. It didn't really bother me much at first, but it has gotten worse and worse. Any help would be appreciated.
 
Big bands or small bands? I'd say try the "clear moire" function, and also try a degauss if you havn't. Otherwise, send it back... that shouldn't happen.
 
This happened to me on my last computer. It was a failure of the vid card not the monitor. In my case the fan seized on the video card and it overheated.

It continually worsened over time.
