Gravity Gun in HL2

In the near 25 minute gamespy video preview of Half Life 2, I remember seeing the gravity gun be able to pick up things and drag them around at a distance, without pulling them in right next to you.

Did they remove that feature for the final game?

EDIT: Oh, with a search I found a thread about the blue gravity gun. Is that the one that has said capability?

Just checked the video again, it is a different gun than the normal gravity gun in the game.

click let go, click again, let go of the right mouse button

In the alpha release of the game you could change how the gravity gun worked in the console. I'm sure thats the only difference between the blue and orange guns anways besides the colors. I would guess its still possible if you enable cheats too. Either way check out schad's technique.
