graphite stuck under nail

danggit. i left my pencil in my pocket wit a little piece of graphite sticking out. i jammed my finger in there and it shot under my nail and now theres a piece of graphite stuck under my fingernail. any clues on how to get it out or if im gonna get poisoned and die? its pretty far in dang.

Tweezers won't work? You could always cut your nail from the top...

Take a pair of pliers and peel off your fingernail.

Remove graphite with tweezers.

Rinse with vinegar.

Use duct tape and superglue to reattach fingernail.


Ok seriously. It's graphite, or carbon in other words. It's not going to kill you.

i reach a dead end where if keep cutting it will start to bleed. is it worth it? i have to cut about 1/5 of a cm more to reach it

I got a peice of pencil lead stuck in my gum as a kid. I was sitting at my desk, holding my pencil (lead up). A kid tripped and fell on me, pushing my head down onto the pencil. Basically my gum is tatooed grey in a small spot, but no harm was done.

Same thing happened except I got tattooed on my leg.

I still have a spot on my right hand from some misguided horseplay with a No. 2 pencil in 5th grade.

Pencil punctures are 4 life no doubt. 😛
