Graphics upgrade - worth it or not?

Hello all,
My current system is showing its age, and I'm starting to gather info for an eventual overhaul. My current specs:
ASUS SK8N board
2 GB memory
Radeon X850 graphics card
AMD Athlon 64 FX processor

So, long term I know I need to upgrade . . . pretty much the whole thing. But I'm wondering if its worth doing a short term graphics card upgrade now while saving money for the eventual system upgrade. Would bumping my card to something like the Radeon HD4670 or HD4830 carry me for a few more months? Or would the performance boost be pretty negligible? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah you should upgrade.

Is your CPU dual core?

I'm pretty sure that the 4830 is a decent deal, and would be a pretty good match for your CPU. Anything more powerful would be overkill IMO.

Just start saving up for a complete upgrade. If you're X850 has lasted you this long, then it should do fine just a bit longer. No reason to spend $100 for an AGP graphics card when that $100 could easily get a CPU+mobo combo.

Yeah, thats what I was afraid I'd hear. Oh well, I'll just start saving my pennies and researching for a full system upgrade. Thanks for the advice, and I will definitely be searching these forums for more info on overall builds.
