Graphics Tablets

has anyone ever used one of these? How well do they work? Also, what brands are good? i know that Wacom is a good brand, but i was just wondering if there were others of similar quality.

I have used the small Wacom tablet for over 6 years now. Am on my third one. Once you use one, a mouse feels clumsy - and it is! 🙂

1. yes. im using the 9x12 wacom intuos.
2. for wacom, i think they work by magnetic fields.
3. wacom. the pen doesnt have batteries or cords attached unlike other brands. i forgot the other brands...

this is great if u're doing graphics. the mouse is killer for games with 5programmable buttons. for normal operatios like word and internet, this is overkill.

The Wacom tablets use RF technology so you don't need batteries.
There really is no other brand if you are considering tablets.
The Graphire2 is very good for entry level work.
If you are using Photoshop7 or other high end graphics programs then get an Intuos2,
as there is more pressure sensitivity and it recognizes the tilt of the pen.

The tablet allows for custom mapping, absolute mapping, customized pressure settings, too much to list,
and my favorite- lifetime support.
