graphics tablet

I'm looking to buy a graphics tablet but I don't have a lot of money to spend. I will primarily be using it for drawing with GIMP. I looked at the really inexpensive tablets but those seem to be for signatures, not drawing. What is the least I can hope to spend on a graphics tablet for drawing? What are the disadvantages of going with an inexpensive one versus a Wacom or something comparable?

well, what's your budget?

Wacom is probably the best option (battery free light stylus, pressure sensitive tip, quality, precision)

Wacom Intuos is a decent low/mid budget choice (<$200)

If you don't mind having a small surface area, the Wacom Bamboo Pad ($70) is a decent starting point

Thanks for the response.

I'm trying to stay under $100. If it's not possible to do that, I'll have to wait a few months while I save up.

Bamboo's cheap and it has enough functions for a starter tablet. I haven't seen any intuos (the bamboo line replaced them) on sale for a while that's under $100 though.
