Graphics problem

I have an ATI X1900 XTX. This happens when playing CoD4, UT3, Crysis, or any game with a high graphics load. Occasionally the screen will freeze and go black about 20 seconds later. All the time I can hear the game running though it sounds like its paused, then the sound will resume and the game will keep going. However the screen will be black and acting as if it has no input. Also I can't hear the fan on the card anymore. Its like the card has shut down.
Only way to get the graphics back is to reboot. When I do I check the temp on the video card and it is at 60C. I'm using ATI tool to try and keep the temperature down to 50C and at 60C the fan is running 100%. I'm thinking my card has a thermal issue though I'm not sure. However this card has never been overclocked.

Is there a way to fix this??

You could reset the cooler with better thermal compound or buy a new cooler or even underclock the card.
