Graphics prob in Madden NFL 2001 after upgrade from Matrox G200 to GeForce

I just upgraded my brother's video card from a Matrox G200 to a GeForce SDR. (GeForce has been hacked to become a Quadro by soldering the resistors).

We first removed the Matrox drivers
Then we installed the GeForce with the 23.11 driver
Now, the grahics in Madden NFL 2001 is messed up. The menus appear all washed up and sort "bright." The 3d graphics look horrible like the color are spackled and textures are corrupted.

All of his other games appear fine (Unreal Tournament, Need For Speed: High Stakes to name a couple).

The OS is Win98SE. And he has DirectX 7.0 installed (came with the Madden CD).

What I am going to try next is installing DX 8.1. My thought here is that the 23.11 drivers are meant to support DX 8.1 and for whatever reason 7.0 is giving it problems.

Any other suggestions??

Sounds like your "Gamma" settings are too high. That's not unusual between two different types of videocards. I'd go into Madden's setup and see if you can adjust the gamma there. Otherwise, you can do it from the Geforce Display Properties settings, but that will affect everything else. So, try to find the setting(s) in the game itself. I'm not talking about the brightness. I'm talking about Gamma.
