I used the drivers that came with the eVGA nvidia 6800 GT video card i have..and the graphics look HORRIBLE they look sorta like a photograph being displayed 8-bit bmp file, and the screen is dark, and i can only turn up hte gamma or briteness so high before it distorts the image...it looks like i have the graphics settings as low as they'll go in diablo 2....and all the whites look like dingy, and like a photograph where the film got over exposed.......would this be from the drivers, or is there something else?

You didn't give any of your specs, and you (apparently) haven't downloaded the latest drivers from nVIDIA's website.

Do those two things and we'll be able to give you more useful information.

I just got an EVGA 6800GT. Graphics are perfect. I'm running Doom3, HL2, FarCry Etc at 1280x1024. Maybe your card (or something else) is broken.

It's either a driver problem, or you got a bad VC. My money is on the driver issue though.
Did you load the drivers on a clean OS install? If you have any ATI drivers loaded, that will cause multiple problems.

yah, new computer actually, just isntalled the OS then teh video card drivers...i thought it was a joke at first...like an nvidia program was going to pop up saying 'this is what your graphics would've looked like if you didn't use our product'

I'm using:
Asus a8v deluxe mobo
amd 3500+
1 gig corsair pc3200 value ram
eVGA Nvidia 6800 GT (256 meg)
hitachi desk star 250 gb
nec dvd/cd burner
thermal solutions 420 w power source
sony floppy drive
oh and a netgear ethernet card

Accipiter22,

I had similar experiance with my 6600GT SLI. Everything started to look and run great when I updated my nForce drivers and my video drivers.

Check out

http://www.3dchipset.com

They have alot of altered and beta drivers for ATI and nVidia for chipset and video.

I did notice that nVidia finally updated their website as well but this site may help in the future. I got the SLI profiler from 3dchipset when it wasnt available from nVidia.

I used to use www.reactorcritical.com alot a few years back for the same but they closed shop. Glad I found another source.
I hate digging through ftp sites I liike to let other do it and collect it for me.

I'm lazy! :p

EDIT: and for you ATI only guys, I have an x800 Pro in my 2nd machine. It is a great card, awesome!! But, so is nVidia. Other than the nVidia GPU being more advanced with sharper Pixel Shader 3.0 (who reallyy cares!) , both cards look awesome (ATI and New! nVidia cards)

I thought that the FX5950 I got 2 years back looked washed out as far as color and wasn't as clear and shard. Where the ATI colors looked much more vibrant and the speed differance was noticable in my 9700 Pro.

But don't get stuck in a paradyme, keep an open mind and don't be a fanboy of any Vendor. Stay objective. It always ends up flip flopping who's on top.

ATi is awesome, but my eVGA 6800GT is flawless too, running at Ultra speeds with excellent graphic quality and speed. :)

Not to ask a probably stupid question, but are you using an LCD and if so, are you making sure to run stuff in it's native resolution?

I have had people get confused when their brand new LCD made star craft look like crap till I pointed out that it only runs in 640x480 and their LCD was 124x768.

ok, just making sure. For the record, I have had no issues with IQ on my BFG 6800GT except for DVD's which was fixed by running the 71.20 drivers

the ones from the mobo you mean?

The weird thing is, the graphics don't look any different from before i installed the video card drivers, they looked awful before, and they look like a bucket of vomit now...the newest drivers on nvidia's site are from november....I doubt mine are older than a few months but i'll have to try em and see

edit: honestly, the only thing that would make me confident in nvidia's drivers solving anything was if on the list of revisions it said 'geforce 6800 gt.....no longer makes screen look like pile of slop'

man i'm being harsh on this thing...considering it's probably my fault somehow

November?! Wow... good thing nVIDIA is regularly updating their site.

Anybody got any good links for getting the latest stuff, because I sure don't.
