I have a small computer that needs to be able to run games @ 1080p smoothly, the catch being the CPU is a 3570k, power supply is 600W and space is limited. there is enough room to squeeze a 12" card or so but it can't be too power-hungry.

my first pick is a RX570/470 but I don't need any more than 4GB video memory. I would prefer DX12 capability for extended use purposes down the road but I will likely have Windows 7 64-bit on this computer. The CPU ran games fine last time I used it but I've sold off the GTX 970 that I was previously running. would a GTX 1060 be a better option?

Does the 600W PSU have PCI-E power connectors?

You might just want to go with a (6GB) GTX1060, due to the relative un-availability of the RX series cards.

yes, the power supply has PCI-e power; I should have specified that it's a Corsar SF600... one of the better SFX units. i do need to find or make an adapter for the slim optical drive power though (looks like a smaller SATA cable).

i know it's petty, but do any of the 1060 models come with a back plate? i've become a bit of a snob due to the cleaner look of the covered PCB. I suppose it may actually be better to not have one in a small case so I'd sacrifice the BP for better cooling in this regard; tight spaces etc.
