Graphics Card what flavor?

Hi all,

I was thinking of purchasing a display card. Like a cheap FX5500 or a FX5600.
It come in 128MB and 256MB.
I heard somewhere that 256MB is not necessary for present application and games.
I don't know how true is that.
Any suggestions from you guys???
Thanks 🙂

128MB for those particular cards. 256MB tends to be a waste on anything but high end video cards, and even then it's debatable.

Memory on a video card depends on what you will use it for, and the chipset. Currently I think 128mb for the avg user is plenty. As for those chipsets, you will more than likely not need more than 128, and not even be able to fully use the 256. If you plan to keep the card for a couple of years (or more) then you might benefit from the 256 a year or so from now.
Just my $0.02
