Hey there, I've tried searching Google for answers and found nothing :(
my computer is Windows 7, 64 bit, I7 cpu @ 2.8, msi x68 pro-e, Nvidia FX 1800, kingston 6 gig of ram 3x2.

My problem is my graphics card is using 2 gig of ram, so windows is saying its only got 4 gig. but bois says I have 6 gig...

how do i stop my graphics card from using all this memory

thx for reading hope ya can help :D

p.s only helpfull thing i found was memory re-mapping which i can not do lol (don't have that option lol)

(i posted this in mother board section by mistake)

Your card will 'borrow' ram from the rest of your system to give itself what it needs. What do you want to do with the rest of the memory??

OP, do you have a drive plugged into the JMicron controller?, swap to the Intel SATA controller.

Where your drives plug into the motherboard, 6 are Intel and number 7 is a JMicron. Looks like one user resolved his issue by moving the SATA cable from SATA#7 to SATA1to6..

Turn PC off, its really easy to which the cables over!

Are you sure it's the graphics card? Windows itself uses a good chunk of memory. 2GB out of 6GB sounds about right.

Do you ever have random freezes or does windows sometimes report 6gb and other times it reports 4gb?

Run MSCONFIG --> BOOT TAB --> ADVANCED OPTIONS --> MAXIMUM MEMORY

Uncheck the box next to Max Mem, Save/Apply then restart. Check for a newer BIOS also.
