Graphics Card Problems: eVGA Geforce 7900 GT CO

I'm having problems in WoW where parts of the game will extend longer than they should. Pretty much anything pointy, like fingers or the top of a fence will stick out abnormally. It also flickers a bit. The other strange thing it does is put a bunch of random rainbow looking garbage on the interface and some of the sky effects.

So far I've:
Tested the CPU/Memory by using SuperPi32
Reinstalled the game, directx and the newest video card drivers.
Played with the game video settings extensively.

My girlfriend has the same graphics card, so I'm testing it with her graphics card in my system and it is working fine. I'm running WoW at 1680x1050 (MAX video settings) with a second monitor at 1680x1050. My graphics card (according to the "temperature settings" in the options) will run between 103-110 during the game, with a short peek temperature of 112. Sound normal?

Time to RMA my card?

Well, first of all, are those temps in Celsius? If so, there's your problem right there. If not, you probably have the same problem that many people (including me) were having with the early 7900gt's, where some of the RAM would become faulty over time. This most obviously manifested as an inability to get through the Deep Freeze tests on 3DMark 06 and strange spiky shapes appearing in games. When did you buy your card? If it was before August last year, then there's a pretty good chance that this is the problem.

Celcius. I have great air cooling in my case.. four 120mm and one 80mm fan. I use a house fan to circulate cool air to the computer area to keep ambient temps down. Granted none of the fans are directly on the graphics card.

That sounds about right, it was in august of 06. So you think I should just RMA?

Wow. 110C is insanely hot. Most likely the heatsink isn't seated properly on the gpu, and I wouldn't be surprised if something is damaged. You should definitely rma.

In general, acceptable load temps can be in the mid-high seventies, but that is still pretty hot.

I took it out, gave it a good hose down with the compressed air and installed it in my girlfriends computer. After switching cards (same make, model, etc...) we're both having no problems. How strange!?

I'm going to post later with temperatures of both cards.

If you're getting those temps, and cleaning hasn't helped, replace the HSF with a nice Zalman or the like. Those temps are out f***in rageous.
