Graphics Card/ PCI slot smoke

Hello,

I recently had to replace a motherboard. Long story short, I got everything in, RAM, CPU, heat sinks, etc in, testing it every time I put in a new component, and it worked fine. Lastly, I put in my video card, and tested it. I heard a pop, and smoke came out of the PCI e slot. I was alarmed, took it out, and tested the mobo again, it seemed fine. I then put it in the other pCIe slot, (stupid I know) and the same thing happened. I then tried the motherboard again without the card, and it seems fine, though I can't tell if it's booting properly because there is no display adapter.

I also tested another video card I know works, and there is nothing, the fan doesn't move. Looks like I broke the PCIe slots.

I don't have all my specs available (I'll post them when I get home). It's a 750w power supply, so I don't think that's the issue. The card worked fine in my old computer...

Any thoughts? Is it a dead card? Or a messed up motherboard? I can't figure it out.

Thank you so much for your time!

Is your powerline to the pc filtered through a UPS? Do power strips in your house trip the fuse on the strip often?

Starting at power. Just wondering also are you operating during a storm?

Could be a bad motherboard, bad power supply, or faulty grounding (board to the case).
