I recently rebuilt my PC into an Antec Aria micro atx case.

Gigabyte K8 Triton
AMD 64 3000+
1g giel pc400
Radeon 9800 Pro
Windows XP SP1

Since the rebuild if have been getting random loss of display. The computer does not reboot, it just locks up and i lose display. I let it run overnight and didnt have the problem but whenever i am working on it i randomly lose display. Sometimes it does it before windows even boots or i can work on it for up to an hour before it reboots. I have the PCI slit next to the card empty and the PCI slot fan that came with it in the 3nd slot. I tried downgrading drivers and didnt get any results. Any suggestions?

P.S. when rebuilding the comp my friend got some artic silver on the pin side of the processor i belive i got it all off but i figured the comp wont even work if there was a problem there.

Edit. I put fresh artic silver on the GPU and still no luck. Right now i have the extra fan and front lights unplugged to see if i am drawing too much from the 300w PS.

Hmm, I had a 6600GT in my Antec Aria, I don't think the 9800pro draws any more power than it does. Have you tried running with the lid open on the case? If it is an overheating issue, that would help. It could be the artic silver on the pin side of the CPU. I use to think a cpu would either work, or not work at all, but the second core of my 920 has convinced me otherwise. I don't think artic silver is actualy electricly conductive however. but it make act as an insulator, preventing the pin from making good contact. Might want to try re-seating the CPU again as well.

Thanks, i ran with the case open and it did not make a difference. I will try to reinstall the cpu.

Well, i do not think it is a hardware problem anymore. I can run in safe mode with no problems. I tried to reinstall windows but got several .sys errors. Any suggestions there?

I was have a lot of trouble with the ATI control center installed, I uninstalled it, and my problems went away. So if you have the control center installed, might want to try without it, and see if that helps.
