I just bought a Sapphire ATI x1650 Pro card. I have a Dell Dimension 8400 P4 3.4, with 1 GB of ram(also bought addtional 2GB of Hitachi 4200 DDR2 to install). Can the 8400 standard motherboard support this card ok, and is the motherboard capable of supporting dual crossfire cards? I believe the Dell has a 925x chip set. I wold appreciate any info on this subject.

heres a link to your computers specs

No crossfire support . Your power supply is only 350watts , so it wouldn't work anyway

Yes your board will handle a x1650 pro. pop it in and load drivers.

Edit: welcome to the forums by the way! next time try asking here for a video card upgrade. The 1650pro would not be recommended for the price.

Edit 2 : what card did you have originally X800? How much did you pay for your new card?

Thanks for the reply... as you can tell I'm not very adept at these things. That's the reason I joined the forum. My orginal card was an ATI x800xt. I paid 171.00 for the new card with my credit card. I just installed the 2 gigs of ram, so did'nt see your message till now. I have not opened the graphics box yet. I bought it all from a company called "Offical Memory" along with 2 Hitachi 160 MB HD SATA2 u300 7200 rpms. 8MB RoHS Drive. He said it writes purpendiclar? and that I could do RAID 0 because I has 3 drive bays. Turns only have two. I ordered on Nov. 4, didn't get until today. I guess I could returned it but... I hate dealin' with you folks again.

The x800xt is faster then that card . Don't let the names fool you.
The next cheapest card for you thats faster then your card is a x1950 pro. or x1950gt for about 220.00$ These cards are 75 % faster than the x800xt.

Buy from Newegg.com they are excellent.

:disgust: Thanks again for the info. I ask the vendor and he assured me that is card was faster and better! Like you, I sure wish that I had joined and talked with you guy before the purchase. I'm afraid the when you deal with a subject you don't know, you get the test first and the lesson later. I can't tell you how much better I feel now that have joined this group. I appreciate your patience. Over time I maybe I can learn some stuff and not make costly mistakes.

Yea, sorry dude, you just significantly downgraded your video card...

Check out the VGA charts here -

You will see that the x800xt is getting approximately twice the performance of the x1650pro in that test. You can compare other games and settings by choosing from the menus at the top.

I suggest you find a good selection of reviews and charts like this and shove them in the face of the man who told you the 1650 is faster - if you make enough noise maybe he'll give you your money back.
