I recently received a 30" apple monitor and wonder if anyone had suggestions for video card to run it? It needs dual link-dvi & 2560x1600. I would like fanless, good for watching movies, and to use vista areo. Cheap options look like ATI x1550 for ~$50 or 7600 for ~$100? I'd rather stay close to $100 and I guess it is hopeless to want to play games in that range (which I don't really play much).

Anyone have any recommendations?

This Gygabyte 8500GT goes for $95.

It's passively cooled and should handle Aereo with no problems. But the best thing about it is the built-in h264 decoder, which should be great for HD movies.

It's not a gaming card, though, but you mentioned that didn't matter so I find it a good match for your needs.

Thanks! I assume going for a slightly different 8500gt works as well, right? The Gygabyte looks good, but I am worried the heatsink will be too wide and hit the northbridge heatsink.

the HD2400/HD2600 are often said to be better cards than the nvidia low/midrange (8500/8600). i'd wait for them. nvidia's having some problems with their vista drivers now, they've been troubled since vista's release. search/google "nvidia vista driver problem"
