hey,
iv decided i want to upgrade my gaming experience and buy 3 24" monitors and them in eyefinity / n. surround.
i cant decide what my best option would be regarding my graphics card, my current system is as follows:

Asus P6X58D-E Intel X58
i7 950
6gb ddr3
gtx 460 1gb
2x 200gb in raid
640gb for storage
ocz stealthXtreme 600w

basically should i get another gtx 460? and to do that i would probs have to upgrade psu

or sell my current gtx 460 and put it towards a ati card for eyefinity, looking at a 6950 or 6970.

i manily play bfbc2 and play maxed out @ 1024x1024

but the new res i will be playing at will be 5760x1080

any help is much appreciated!
thanks
oli

460s are definitely a non-option, not enough power and not enough vram.

That resolution really needs two cards. But a 6950 or 6970 will do the trick if you dial your settings down.

Yes to the first. The second depends on what the requirements for bf3 willy be, and what settings you want to play at. Two 6970s should be plenty, but how about waiting some

I'd keep the current rig until BF3 comes out, then you'll have a better idea of what it takes for playable framerates with 3 monitors.

I would go with this as well. If your main concern is BF3, wait till it's out. AMD will have their new 28nm cards around by then, which cards are out and pricing is unknown, but you can be certain there will be price drops on cards out currently. So you can pick up a 6950 or 6970 cheaper than you could now, or you may be able to get a new 28nm card.

Whatever you do, for that resolution you want a card with 2GB of memory, particularly if you want to use some AA and plan to play new games.

I really think you will need two cards for a good experience though, so the idea of one card and then another would probably be best. Try one, see how you like it, I think you'll find you need another though.

I agree with Groove's strategy, but understand that if you think that you'll end up going xfire then I would just get a 6950 (or the 28nm equivalent) as the first card.
