graphics card confusion

hi i am looking for some help on video cards last year built my own pc cosmos 1000 case
2 640 gb wd hdd q6600 proc asus eah top 4850 video card antec neo power 650 ps sony dvd rw drive and 1 lite on dvd drive 5 120mm case fans.ok my question is i am looking for something to play crysis far cry 2 and i love the call of duty series . how would the 5850 series work with this system new egg #100282sr or asus eah 5850 1 gb 299$. something that will work with that ps and is it that much of an upgrade from my 4850 ? looking for help from other gamers.thanks.

The 5850 series will be more then enough. Your psu is more then enough also.

What resolution do you game at? A 4850 512mb can handle CoD pretty good - but Crysis and FC2 will need more juice at high res.

But if you are looking for an upgrade, a 5850 will work. It will be about the performance of 4850 Crossfire, even more when the 1GB of memory pays off. I'd say you're looking at a 70%+ performance increase. It'll be more than triple with FC2 at high res with high AA.

650W PSU can handle a 5850.

A HD5850 is roughly the speed of HD4850x2 (so around 1.6-1.7 times faster than a single HD4850), with the added benefit of having 1GB of RAM. Maybe a bit slower. Depending on the resolution, Crysis should play fine High / Very High no AA (or with a bit AA if you're at 1680x1050). Far Cry 2 will play fine too on a HD5850. The card will eat any CoD game for breakfast.

If you have $300, a HD5850 is a very nice card to get.

to solmiester the mb is and evga 680i LT and i see u bumped your q6600 up how did it go i would like to bump mine up a bit as well .
