Graphics Card and MoBo Question

My little bro is looking at purchasing a new graphics card for his HP Pavilion 701 machine. He is looking at spending around $100-150 but will possibly go as high as $200. I've recommended a 9600 XT. Any other recommendations?

Your better off with the 9600pro and o/c to XT speeds if you wanna save some bucks. I dont even know if Half Life 2 coupon is being offered anymore on XT's. Not sure.

One issue I have is whether or not the card will have the correct voltage to work with his motherboard. I'm about 8 hours away and can't easily open it up to see whats up.

With the 9600xt's at $150 now, they're not bad for the price, especially if you get an hl2 coupon. If you bump it up to $200 though, you can get a 9700 which would be nice.

As far as whether the card will be compatible with the mobo, which card is in the computer now? That might give you some indication. He could also download aida32. It should give him the model of his mobo and the agp version/supported speeds.

He currently has an integrated card (GeForce2) with this mobo: MS-6367

Looks as though it can only handle 4x AGP and 1.5v...any ideas on a 4x card? maybe i'll just have him upgrade the mobo as well.
