I happily build my computers, but I don't game so I could do with a bit of help.
I am giving my old PC to my stepson and he does plan on gaming (UPDATE: Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare). Monitor is a Dell ST2410 at 1920x1080.
Motherboard: Asus P5W DH Deluxe (975x)
CPU: E6600, presently running at stock speed with a fanless Ninja (one 120mm case fan)
PSU: Antec 430W
The present card is an ATI 4350 which clearly won't cut it. Would I be OK with an ATI 5770 or 5750? I am mostly concerned with any compatibility with the 2006 era motherboard and the PSU capacity. I can upgrade the PSU as well, but I would think that anything faster than a 5770 would be wasted on the older processor.
I was thinking of also giving him a 40Gb SSD as a boot drive since my own experience has been that you get addicted to the speed of starting things up. Comments?
Money is not a primary concern, but I want to get the best out of the hardware that I am giving him.
