Im trying to buy a gaming computer and the best ive found so far is a Dell Optiplex 745 but I know nothing about graphics and sound cards. I am hoping to play games like skyrim and Assassins creed but am worried they won't play properly or at all. If anyone knows anything that might help it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

That cpu was released in Jan 2006. It's basically Jan 2013. It basically won't play those games. If we had a budget to work with we could possibly find something better.

That old Dell is basically a web browsing machine. Gaming? Forget it unless you only plan to play solitaire. Way too out-dated.

If the price of the machine listed is the top of your budget, you are going to have a tough time getting something you will be happy with. What do you have now? An upgrade might be a better option.

Get a used PS3 or Xbox if money is too tight.
I know but really it would be cheaper and a better experience overall.

This. If that computer you listed was your idea of a "gaming computer", then you are waaay off. A decent mid-range gaming PC these days is around $800-1000 US. The computer you listed would be barely good enough for web browsing.

PC gaming hardware isn't cheap. If you don't have the budget for it, just stick to consoles.
