Graphics and physics

I just bought a gtx260 that I'm going to be using as my primary card and when I get my xfx 8800gt back from XFX warranty repair I want to use it as a physics card. My question is do you have to connect them with an sli bridge and if I do will it work on a crossfire board. I know you can sli on a crossfire and vis versa but do you have to use a sli bridge to use a dedicated physics card?

LOL, for a moment there I though this was a thread like the other one about physx.

Anyway, You don't need to connect the SLI bridge. Just use the driver control panel to select which card will do the physx.

It will work on any board with 2 PCI-E slots. So it doesn't matter if the board doesn't support SLI.

No... its just put into a pci slot and thats it.

Also sometimes if your "dedicated physics" card is slow, compaired to your main grafics card, useing it for physx only can actually slow you down.

sometimes your better off "not" useing a dedicate physics card.

Is the 8800gt fast enough, that its worth it to use with a 260gtx?
probably? maybe?

I recammend you try first without the 8800gt, see how your FPS are, then after put it in, and see how your fps are.

*if* your fps are lower after you put the 8800gt in, its too slow a card to mix with your 260. Then its time to just sell it or throw it out.

An 8800GT is plenty fast with a GTX260.

no way would the 8800gt ever be slower than having the gtx260 do both graphics and physx. an 8800gt is pretty much a perfect match for a gtx260.

Yeah the 8800 gt is a beast the only reason I got the 260 is I have a really good friend who has 3 that sold me one because my 8800 went out. I just can't justify getting rid ofthe 8800 after warranty service.

Ok so xfx sent me a ati 5750 as a warranty replacement for the 8800. Now my question is now can I use this card as a physics card and the 260 as a graphics or vis-versa I really don't know which card is the better graphics card the 260 is 512 and he 5750 is 1gb which doesn't mean diddly the 260 is 448 bit I think and the ati is 128 from the little research I did. Any help would be great.

Well, if its a stock 192sp 260 then the gap is not that large. So yeah, you wouldn't notice the difference with either card, so you can go ahead and use the 260 for physx if you like.
