Graphic Design Courses/Seminars? Any Hardware Needed?

Hi. A friend of mine is looking to take a graphic design course/seminar to help enhance her skills and abilities.

2 Things:
1. Any seminars/courses of this nature that are available in NYC? Please suggest a few or a resource where they can be found. (Most important)🙂 Also, a online course is not preferred.

2. To make this hardware related, i know Adobe has a hand on technique later (September 6) where they have a full day course at the Javits convention center. Do they usually provide hardware? 😛

PS Im sorry if i made you open the thread, but the more exposure and traffic in this hardware forum make it a worthwhile post for myself to gain more responses, input, suggestions, idea's etc to help my friend.

Thanks 🙂

Well, I can't offer much help, but the least I can do is bump you😉

I would say to start by checking with the local colleges and universities. I live in the sticks in NH, and I know of over a dozen courses starting in the fall semester within a half hour drive(three different schools). Given that NYC is the advertising HQ of the US, you should be able to find five to ten times that amount easily.

On point two, those type of seminars tend to be more like presentations. They assume that you already know your sh!t and tend to use one main display, a projector of some sort often times, and then go over what ever subject they are covering. Being a hands on seminar, I'm not sure how they will handle it(never been to one). I can almost assure you that if they do expect you to BYOH, they will be planning on Macs showing up(but you can hope that they will figure there are a few Windows users in NYC😉 ).
