Graphic card recommendation - EVGA GeForce GTX680 or alternate?

Hi friends,

I hope you are doing well. A friend's Son has asked me to get the following graphic card for him -

EVGA GeForce GTX680 SuperClocked 2048MB GDDR5, DVI, DVI-D, HDMI, DisplayPort, 4-way SLI Ready Graphics Card Graphics Cards 02G-P4-2682-KR.

He is a teenager, and an avid video gamer. He lives in India, I am in the USA. I will be buying this or another card for him and taking it to India. I am aware of the transportation regulations.

I wanted to check if you recommend this, or another card, which may be newer, better value for money, etc.?

Also, I was planning to buy it on amazon or the egg, unless you suggest it from elsewhere...

Any thoughts?

I'd honestly save a hundred and get him a 670. They're so close in games he'll never even notice the difference

As Don said, 670 performs similarly in games for a hundred less. I second this. Great card.

the res of the specs, in detail, NEED to be known here. and that includes resolution that he wants to play at.

If you're looking at the GTX 680 then save some money and look at the GTX 670 as everyone else said.

If money isn't an issue, I'd get the 680. Getting the best stuff for an additional $100 is fine if you can afford it.

My problem with GTX680 or any halo model is that you never see them for a really good sale. You can pay a little over $400 for a GTX670 now, I wouldn't touch the reference 670 personally. There is only about an 8% difference on average between the two when they are both overclocked.

OP if you're going through all that trouble to import the thing into India you might as well go big with the GTX 680.

clock for clock there is only about 5% difference between the gtx670 and gtx680. and some gtx670 cards can oc better so you could end up having a gtx670 that matches some gtx680 cards even if both are oced.

It depends on the title. I've seen more in some things, then again I've also seen less.

I really like the ASUS triple slot cards if you can find one, and have the room. They don't work with something in that 4th slot, so while technically triple slot, functionally they're more like quad slot.
