Graphic Card Problem Help!

I recently was surfing the internet and boom out of no where my computer screen went crazy. Basically, my whole screen graphics got scrambled and I couldn't make out anything. The graphic card is a Gigabyte 6800GT AGP 256MB DDR3. I didn't have a backup graphics card to test it out, so I went out and bought a cheap one, and sure enough it was the graphics card. My question is there any way to save this video card or no? Could it be my video drivers? I can't do anything with this video card now, I can't even make it to the desktop and make out anything. Help! Thanks!

If it's garbled while the comp is booting up, that's a bad thing. That means it's not the drivers.

The two things I'd look for are 1) Does it require power from the PSU? Most cards these days do, and alot of people don't know to connect that up. 2) Perhaps try to reset the cooling, but if the chip already burned out, you're pretty much SOL.
