Hello, I am new to the boards here but this looks like the place to get a little tech help. I just recently stated having a problem with my graphix card (NVIDIA 6600GT). When playing any games I get a wierd blocky image like this

Funny Graphics

- I have had the card since I built my computer over a year now. Never once have I had a problem with it.

- No software was installed prior to this happening.

- The only thing I can say is that while playing the other night the screen went totally blank and my monitor began searching for a signal like it does when the computer is off. However, the computer itself was still on. So, I pressed the reset button and it started up again normally. Since then the graphics have been like that for games.

- I even tested in my dxdiag and get the little black boxes when doing the Direct3D tests.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks again!

hmm im not sure...but when this happened on my old nintendo...you gotta take the game cartrige out and blow on it.

realisticaly it might be a power supply thing? or a heat thing.... have you pulled the card out and cleaned its fan? that computer cleaner all the teenagers get high on actually has a use =P had you installed new ram or...new soundcard...or anything around the time it started to occure?

do you have a temp readout of how hot your card gets? mine is a 7800gt overclocked from evga (the 470mhz one) sometimes it hits 68C in 3dmark05. whats yours hitting?

Haha I thought of my old nintendo when I saw the wierd graphix too.

My card temp doesn't seem to be abnromal. Unloaded it sits around 47C (Ambient is 44) while under load it can reach into the upper 50 but nothing outrageous.

Also, I haven't installed any hardware or anything remotely close to when this issue started. =/

i have a memory of an older computer i had with a 9800pro doing something similar. im just trying to remember what caused it x.x
if i think of anything ill let ya know... sorry your havin troubles x.x

and yeah heh my cards temp is pretty hot..but it idles at 40-41C so it varies 40--->68 yours goes from 44-58 or something.... mine varies 28C yours varies 14. ofcourse mine only jumps into such scorchers when running 3dmark on loop for awhile...and even then it just occasionaly jumps that high mostly around 63C

looking at both cards is kind of useless since they are different..but im wondering if part of your card didnt get static fried or something...so its not doing everything it used to and thats why it doesnt heat up so much but it idle's a little hot.

just goofy guesswork on my part x.x pay no mind
