Neither of those are really designed for the business world. I don't think Alienware has a business line, but Dell's Latitude series is nice. I have a D520, you'd probably want the D620 though, it has more options such as a Quadro video card and larger, higher resolution screen. I love not having to delete all the crappy software that comes on entertainment/home laptops.
Acer TravelMate 8204 WLMi. 2gb of memory, 120 GB HD, Ati x1600 with 256 dedicated memory + 256 shared = 512, core duo at 2GHz, bluetooth, DL DVD Burner, b/g wireless, built in 1.3 mp web cam/camera, smart card, VOIP phone.......all of this came with it. I think right now the price is around 2k.
I'd take a look at dell do you care about monitor size? I wouldn't recommend getting those laptops as they are for gaming. what about the apple macbook pro?
might I suggest an IBM thinkpad, they are business quality notebooks, and this particular one comes with an ATI FireGL V5200, which is ATI's top of the line mobility OpenGL card which is great for CAD work:

IBM $$$ but pretty solid from my experience. Totally professional looking. Just get a dell to do your dirty work, unless you can afford the IBM.
Yeah, the one thing to keep in mind, is you need a FireGL Mobility or Quaddro FX 1500M/2500M to get any performance increases in things like CAD, a Geforce or Radeon mobility dont provide any gains really.
