She doesn't want to spend the money ($130+) to have them done... so what's the best way?

I suggest using pencil so you can fix mistakes.

After that, file whatever way is fastest, and don't forget to file the receipts in a shoe box;)

find out where the local IRS - VITA/TCE program is available

http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=119845,00.html

Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE)

The Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) Program provides free tax help to people age 60 and older. Trained volunteers from non-profit organizations provide free tax counseling and basic income tax return preparation for senior citizens. Volunteers who provide tax counseling are often retired individuals associated with non-profit organizations that receive grants from the IRS.

As part of the IRS-sponsored TCE Program, AARP offers the Tax-Aide counseling program at approximately 9,000 sites nationwide during the filing season. Trained and certified AARP Tax-Aide volunteer-counselors help people of low-to-middle income with special attention to those aged 60 and older.

For more information on TCE call 1-800-829-1040. To locate the nearest AARP Tax-Aide site, call 1-888-227-7669 or visit the AARP-TaxAide site.

You do not have 15-30 minutes for your Grandmother?

Tell her to be reasonable. If she has all the paperwork all set, and all you need to do is write in the numbers, then thats ok, it will take 10 minutes for federal. State Tax is rougher.

if she hasnt taken the time to keep could records, and obtain the necessary paperwork that is needed to file taxes, then you are in for it.

Now you add additional information that was not provided early.

Get her some tax S/W, install it for her and let it walk her throught it. Still will take the estimated 15 minutes of your time.

She needs to be aware of that with the stocks/bonds, she will need the dates, prices purchased & sold to determine the capital gains.

The savings accounts will have provided her with a simple 1098-I form.
Same will be true with all the other items, the people responsible for those acounts will have sent the proper forms.

The S/W will hold her hand, just jsut may need to pause and collect the information needed.
