Grandmother raised me...

My paternal grandmother raised me since I was a child. At the age of two, my father and mother went through a nasty divorce. My father won custody, but because of his traveling alot, my grandmother raised me.

She is 89 years old. She does not get out of the house unless to just ride around. and she doesn't like smelly stuff. She complains about things that just sit around because they collect dust.

I have no idea what to get her!

Very picky eater. Doesn't eat much. Would not be worth the effort and I am afraid she wouldn't view this as a gift anyways because I do cook for her on occasion.

i am in somewhat of a similar situation...
what i would do, is take here to a dinner to a place she would like (even if its just a local place for the early bird special) and take some time, put your thoughts together and write here a nice "love" letter, thanking her for all she has done, how much she means to you, how she has helped to shape you as a good human being, how much you appericate her and love her for being your "mom" and give it to her with a nice, simple silver frame of a photo of the two of you (could be old or newer)
she will love it

Does she like old music? Get her an old Vinyl of classic Jazz from Half Priced Books. Take her to a broadway show ($$$).
Get her an arrangement of flowers.

Oh BTW, LolaWiz is right, letters are the most sentimental thing, and if she is a sentimental woman, she will highly like this.

BTW Why bother with Mother's Day anyways? Is she sentimental? It is just an instituted national holiday with no real significance.
