Anyone been to Grand Canyon/Flagstaff during this part of the year? hows the weather? does it snow a lot? hows the visibility? cloudy/rain... is it even worth bothering going there now?
I checked weather.com and it says sunny but temp around 30s... I am wondering if any ATOTers have any personal experience?

60 in Jan is not too bad. Pants, light jacket, sweater, and a hat.

What day are you going?

It rarely snows in flagstaff, I would just check out the weather report. The drive from Phoenix to Flag can be a little precarious, but I wouldnt worry about snow or ice unless its predicted in the forecast to happen. It usually doesnt stick long, and Ive never had a problem driving in flagstaff.

I would still go, the grand canyon is pretty sweet. While you are up there, you could also check out the hoover dam. Its not too far away.

Probably will drive to Flagstaff on 26th, Hoover Dam is definitely on the radar...

I went in February several years ago (from Flagstaff), and there was quite a bit of snow on the roads, and a lot of fog in the canyon. It was still great though. Just had to wait and watch for the fog to clear every now and then.

8 feet a year is rarely?

The average annual precipitation is 22.91 inches (58.2 cm) and annual snowfall averages 100.3 inches (254 cm), placing Flagstaff among the snowiest incorporated cities in the United States.

Flagstaff is at 6,900 ft elevation...always check conditions before going to avoid getting stuck on the roads up there. I went thru there a couple years ago in january...got snow...but fortunately was on my way back down the mountain before it got bad.

very quickly, for the most part. All I gotta say is some years their ski resort doesnt even open! They only need a 30" base for the resort to open and sometimes that doesnt even happen.
