Well, I finally downloaded the entire client (it came in 9 parts totally about 2.4GB) and installed it. Unfortunately for some relatively unknown reason, I didn't get much time to play with it as I was unable to connect to the server after about 5 minutes of being on. But I had a chance to create my family name (I kind of wish you could have surnames in WoW... I always wanted to call my Gnomes "Sprigglesprocket").
I'm not sure why, but the character designs were just amazing looking to me. They have a bit of a colonial look (since that's the period they wanted to capture, but in a fictional world). I'd say the characters look somewhat like Vagrant Story or Final Fantasy XII but a bit more detailed. I'll give a small list of likes and dislikes so far:
Likes:
* You can configure graphics and such before you even enter the game. Handy to avoid ugly screen issues, especially for those with 2 or more monitors.
* The login screen is fairly minimal, which some other games do well (WoW has a fairly good log-in system in my opinion).
* Surnames ... I like it

.
* Characters have a sort of vibrancy that other games may lack.
* Patching system is direct HTTP and it checks before the game even starts.
Dislikes:
* You cannot save your username and password (only username). This is especially annoying as the company provided the username and the password and I don't think you can change them. Fortunately, I think I've memorized the awkward password

.
* There is no windowed maximized mode like in WoW. Setting the game to 1680x1050 makes it go into my second monitor a bit and this bothers me (obsessive compulsive... I don't like having something "off the edge" a bit).
* Patches don't really tell you what they do (I've grown accustomed to Blizzard's patcher listing the changes right there as it works. It's handy to read them then since you have to wait anyway

).
I'll take some screen shots later today and get them up. Let's just hope I can get in game and my web hosting actually works :roll:.
