MS Word says that this sentence:
They have tried counseling and group therapy but neither have helped her.

should be

They have tried counseling and group therapy but neither has helped her.

correct or incorrect?

Neither is always, traditionally singular. Coloquially it's used in the plural (neither...have) but it should always be singular.
