Grammar/capitalization question

A little embarassed to ask this but would you capitalize the word "city" in these contexts?

I believe you would capitalize if you were writing "City of Los Angeles"

but would you capitalize city if you wrote the following?

"I would like to find a job working for the city."

Its not a proper noun and not worthy of capitalization.

Could depend on context but probably not.

That is, "City of Los Angeles" is ok because it's a proper name, but you should probably leave "the city" as just a non-proper noun.
