I just bought a 26" monitor. I currently have a 8800gtx in my system. I want to upgrade this to make sure I have minimal issues running conan here in a week. Would you think going dual 8800gtx's would be better than a 9800gx2? Finding benchmarks that compare the 8800gtx sli to a 9800gx2 seems darn near impossible. For some reason most current reviews don't even show the 8800gtx anymore.

Thoughts?

your 8800GTX will be perfectly adequate at 1920x1200 for everything that isn't Crysis. Seriously.

New gen cards are due out soon... Short of a bargain that you can not refuse I wouldn't upgrade anything right now...

Based on the screen shots that I have seen for Conan a single 8800 GTX is overkill even at 1900x1200.....

Keep what you have now and enjoy. I'm pretty sure that your current card won't choke with Age of Conan. And if it does, in three weeks or so you can get one of the next generation cards that will kick 8800GTX SLI butt.

Not a fan of their benchmarking style, but HardOCP has reviewed 8800 GTXs in SLI vs. the newer cards a few times.

I don't like recommending waiting, but there is new stuff coming soon from AMD & nV, which might allow for a single card upgrade, vs. going dual cards which tend to come with a few more headaches.

Of course, some people love their dual card solutions, & in that case, SLI 8800 GTXs or a 9800 GX2 would be a nice boost.
