I should graduate from community college next semester...
I'd be looking pretty good is A.S degrees actually meant something, but as we all know, Associate's degrees come on rolls and are stored in the rest room for alternate usage.

Yup. Have an independent study project and 2 large web projects due the 5th as well as my first real full-time job interview that same day. Then 2 finals the next week, and I'm out!

you haven't had any interviews?

have any internship experience?

the job market isn't the greatest right now, but if you can't even land any interviews, you're doing something wrong.

Only been looking for about 3 weeks or so. Haven't gotten any replys to resume yet. Got no internship experience(probably big reason of why i am not getting any calls back). Only offers i got was for sale job on comission but i am not even counting them as anyone can get it.

I read an article saying that students interested in investment banking are taking internships (some unpaid) instead of jobs. Is this true?

Unpaid internship is another word for legal slavery.

I'm graduating next month. I hope to have a few job offers next week.

We had about 3 interns I know that worked doe a few weeks. They were offered jobs that weren't advertised elsewhere. Don't under estimate working for free at a good company imo.

Graduated from comp sci spring 2007 and got a job in IT that same summer. Could not have asked for better. I was actually planning to start job hunting that September so I can have a few months off to enjoy as well as help recover from all the stress college brought, but got a job opening before that and went for it. I actually had multiple job apps/interviews yet I was not actively job hunting. If I had not been able to actually get a job then I would of just reopened my business. Already registered and all, just had no time for it during college so pretty much closed shop.

I won't lie, the job market has not been exactly "giving" for me. Hopefully you have much better luck.

I'm graduating this semester with a degree in Electrical Engineering and I'm fortunate enough to have gotten 2 job offers recently, with hopefully a couple more to come.
I started job hunting back in October and I must've had 20+ interviews, there are weeks where I spent more time in interviews than in classrooms. The job market is definitely a little more competitive, but an engineering degree will still open doors in this economy.

There are still jobs out there, you just have to keep looking. Polish your resume and practice interview questions. Just play the numbers, sooner or later you'll get something.

Grad School, and yes I've taken a position.

Lucky to be in a field that's white hot and recession resistant.

More like "being highly educated will still open doors in this economy". Anything that requires a difficult bachelors (applied sciences, i.e. chemistry, engineering, etc.) or a postgraduate degree (Masters and up) is a good bet, because those skill positions are rarely overcrowded, and it's not like companies can just hire GED scabs...

Unfortunately, a lot of people still don't realize that college degrees aren't rare these days and even with one, the job hunt can still be very tough (especially in bullshit cop out majors like communications or political science).

Hence why going the extra step is worth the time and money. High level return on investment for those extra 2+ years of tuition.

Yes it is, but it's also a damn good way to get your foot in the door somewhere. I took a position where I had interned. The company knew what they were getting (I had, after all, worked for them for free for 4 months, which is better than any interview), and I knew what I was getting as a work environment and co-workers. Everyone won.

Ja1484, i always thought that Finance was considered to be diffifcult bachelor degree but maybe i was wrong in thinking that. Either way, it seems so many finance people been laid off that companies have much bigger pool to pick from then usual.
