Graduated this past December with a BS in MIS. Working as a system admin making very low money. Then again, I understand there
are plenty of ppl out there who would jump at my position. I've been accepted into Drexel for their Master program in Information Systems. My peers say I should go get an MBA, but that stuff doesnt interest me. Then again, I dont know if I wanna go get my Master since I will be taking out $36k in loans to pay for the Master program.

What are some folks doing nowadays? The economy blows and I can't believe I graduated at the worst time!

get some working experience before u decide to apply for mba...

if u goto grad school now...and u grad in 2 yrs...u still have to look for a job in this type of economy...id say work for a while and then apply for grad school

edit: not everyone has a job...so most are deciding togoto grad school....so if u have a 'ok' job now...keep it

i know many people who've had jobs that would pay to put them through a graduate program; you might want to look for one of those. personally i'm a school junkie so i'd go for it but hey that's just me :)

I'm doing grad school and working full time...I get a "little" company tuition reimbursement ($1500 per year) so the rest is up to me.

In my experience, it is harder to find a job if you have a graduate degree and no work experience than it is to get a job with a bachelor's degree... If you go to grad school, keep working so you have that experience.

Take a year off and travel. Screw school and work. You have the rest of your life to do that. Have some fun while you have the chance.

Oh no....last May was the worst time to graduate. That was when Arthur Anderson, MCI and all of those other twit companies decided to have accounting issues.

I am actually in the same boat as you...I graduated with a BS is MIS and was not able to find anything. I decided to go back and sit in school as a non-dregree seeking grad student so that I could qualify to work in the IT depts. within campus. Sad thing is that the state is in a budget crunch so no hiring is going on.

I have been accepted to an MBA program but I would SO rather be in an M.S. MIS program...yeah but I do understand the whole cost issue of it all. Personally I would go back to school and just sit there...the working world is a crazy place right now for a fresh grad.

But here is all of what I have heard from my friends.

B.A. Psychology -- Working as some admissions counselor -- 30k -- Chicago,IL
B.A. Judaic Studies -- Working at some temple as a youth coordinator -- 28k -- Washington D.C.
B.S. Molecular & Cellular Biology -- Working in a lab as a gopher -- 25k -- Tucson, AZ
B.S. Marketing/Entrepreneurship -- Working in a hollywood "agent" company as a mailroom person -- 23k -- Hollywood, CA
B.S. MIS -- Unemployed
B.S. MIS -- Unemployed
B.S. MIS -- Working at IBM doing something...he was lucky and had an internship there before though -- 43k -- Tucson, AZ
B.S. MIS/Accounting -- Working at some company as an accountant -- 30k -- Phoenix, AZ
B.S. Accounting -- Working as an auditor for the IRS -- 28k -- Los Angeles, CA
B.S. MIS -- Grad school MS. MIS -- Tucson, AZ
B.S. Psychology -- Working at a law firm...law school next fall -- 25k --Las Vegas, NV
B.S. Finance -- Unemployed
B.A. Media Arts/CS -- works for some company developing games for pocketPCs -- 30k -- Tucson, AZ

Anyway...those are the ones I know off the top of my head....everybody is doing things kinda differently after graduation so just do what kinda feels right. Cuz until the economy pulls back up we're all kinda screwed.
