Gradual increase in vcore

I have an E6600 running at 3.4. Every year since I have owned it, I've had to gradually increase the vcore up to keep it stable. Sign it is dying or it this normal? I think I have it at 1.445 in the bios now. I really dont feel comfortable cranking it up much higher. I think its time for a new chip. ( Agree with me on that last statement please, so I can justify an upgrade =) )

Well sort of observing the same thing with my E8400 .. So instead of uping the voltage iam downing the speed.
like earlier it was 4.0ghz with 1.418vcore. Now its unstable there so i have reduced it to 3.8ghz at 1.36v vcore

I personally feel that you chip is uncomfortable dont torture it.
I dont think uping the voltage is any good. you can also be happy with what you have, cause IMO 40% oc is too harsh for a duo(sentence open for reconsideration)

It's not the chip, it's the supply on your motherboard.

I had to increase my voltage in BIOS from 1.5025 to 1.5275. Chip is stable at 1.472v in CPU-z, but I noticed it was dipping down to 1.46 at heavy load sometimes (it didn't used to) and I was getting a lot of BSODs. Increased the voltage to compensate and it's rock solid again.

This was the motherboard, not the CPU. You don't need to upgrade. Sorry. ;)

Grim, if you see per this link you can run your chip up to 1.5vcore fine. Go by what you see in CPU-z. Because of Speedstep, my chip only sees greater than 1.5v when I'm at 10x multi and no load. It only sees these voltages for about a second before it clocks back down to 6x multi (and 1.42v). Ganesh, per this link you should only go to 1.3625v. The loss of stability may be due to your chip wearing out because you were running it at 1.4.
