and how well did you do?

Also, it'd be sweet if we can start a thread with people posting the following info:

Undergrad major
GPA (major and cumulative)
grad school(s) accepted and what you're studying there

Didn't take the GRE.

Mechanical Engineering Tech
3.3 (3.5 in my major)
University of Wisconsin - Platteville, accepted in 2002 and graduated this past May with a masters in engineering.

Sweet, what do you do now?

I started 5 days before the test date (had final exams and 2 major projects to deal with first). I got 760 Math, 630 Verbal and 0.5 less than the max of the essay writing (I forget the number, I wrote it in the first week of December 2004). I got accepted in to the Doctoral program in EE (Undergrad was EE as well, 3.75 GPA with Honors, Magna Cum Laude) at University of Michigan and I start in a few weeks (no financial aid so I guess I didn't do so hot).

Look around, there are many GRE threads, I know I started one before I wrote mine and one after I applied but I don't mind reposting because I like how I did 🙂

Nothing. Exactly the same thing I did while I spent 3 years working on a masters degree. Same amount of pay too.

Damn nice 🙂

Congrats on earning a spot in the MD/PhD program as well 🙂

I did a little studying about a month out, just enough to not be surprised.

Got 570 verbal, 760 quant, and 5.0 writing.

Electrical Engineering
3.46 cum, 3.45 major
Got accepted to UofWashington EE dept this year for masters, doing something VLSI/CPU design related (talking to profs now about ideas).

BSEE for undergrad
3.75 overall GPA, major was a bit lower, maybe 3.73
Was accepted to Stanford, UIUC, UMich, UW, Utah, Purdue for EE

I ended up choosing UMich because they were the best school I got into for EE that also gave me a tuition waiver and stipend.

I started studying for the GRE last summer (applied last fall to start grad school this fall). I really spaced my study time out though, and maybe learned a couple new words each day or two. I bought the Kaplan book and I think it helped me learn a lot of the words that show up on the test. Once school started I quit studying for it, then I did some last minute cramming before I took the test in october.

I ended up getting 800 math, 670 verbal, and 5.0 writing.

Hey were you at the open house/visitation they held last April? I went to that and met a ton of prosepective and current EE grad students. I ended up not going because UW never offered me any type of financial aid and UMich had already promised me a TA position. In addition I really wasn't as interested in the research they were doing in VLSI. It didn't seem to be as popluar there as it was at UMich. It's too bad though, because UW and Seattle in general seemed like a great place to be when I visited.

Started studying a week before taking it (thought I'd go into the real world for a bit, decided I didn't want to do my job)
Got a 1490 - 780 Math, 710 Verbal, 6 writing.

Undergrad was a 3.8 in English and Urban studies.
Just applied to Georgia Tech, studying Architecture here.

Anyone else find it odd that you can't really find average GRE scores online? Or do I just not know where to look.

No, I didn't go to the open house. I did my undergrad at UW and loved it, plus I can't leave Seattle at the moment so the UW was a pretty logical choice. My initial financial aid offering was pretty weak but my second one had a partial tuition waiver, now I'm going for a TA or RA position for the full waiver. At this point though I'm just glad to have gotten in since I haven't work in industry in four years and my GPA/GRE are meh at best. UMich is supposed to be a great school as well.

Studied about a month in advance... took the test twice, bombed hard the first time, worked studied my ass the 2 weeks before the second test to get the proper scores for math/analytical (they didn't really care about verbal, hence the low verbal score). note this was also right before they changed the exam, so i didn't have an essay portion -

CS undergrad
3.3 Overall, 3.5 Major
760 Math, 710 Analytical, 430 Verbal
UC Irvine

i just finished my MS there this year.

Didn't study but downloaded the software the night before and did both practice tests.
Operations Research undergrad
3.75 overall, 3.92 major
800 quant, 550 verbal, 5.0 essay
Only applied to Columbia (early) for Fall 06
Still weighing whether or not I want to stay for the masters...

CountZero and I did almost identical:

580 Verbal, 760 Quant
BSEE 3.68 Overall GPA

I studied for about a month, off and on..the last 4 days before the test I tried to learn a lot of vocab from Princeton Review and Kaplan..it actually was helpful (but I'm pretty decent at cramming)..I was making 780 & 790 on Quant practice test from ETS so I was a little disappointed but I hope it will be ok

Haven't gotten the essays back as I took it a week ago

560 verbal 800 math 5.5 essay
studied abt a month or so ago...but only verbal...which i sucked at anyways as u can see.
3.75 gpa.

got in some schools, U Mich, Illinois, USC, texas (gtech and ucsd rejcted cus of aid only)
flat out rejected from top 3.

working Now...will go to texas (only one to offer a great fellowship package) next semester.

its wayyy too varied. it wont even make sense even if they published it. wont mean much.

most schools have the average gre score of admitted students on their website though.

A-800
Q-790
V-730
= 2320

i studied a lot for verbal. Did few months of others also.
Texas A&M and Rutgers with full assistantship. Went to A&M.
