So I got a free subscription to GQ Magazine from FatWallet a few years ago (when my subscription ran out, I bought a 4-year sub for $9.99 off eBay). I generally like the magazine and the articlea are usually pretty insightful (the article a few months ago on Robert DeNiro was a real eye opener into his persona), but one thing that has alway struck me is the sheer amount of ads.

I got my March 2007 issue in the mail this month and start flipping through... and flipping through... and flipping through until I got to page 78: The Table of Contents. WTF?

Granted, the magazine has 350 pages, but 77 pages of ads before the ToC?

I've been paying for it since 2005.

GQ is like that...and it kinda makes sense too as its primarily a fashion magazine so seeing what the ads have to offer kind of tells you of the state of fashion at that particular time.

Hehe, I also get Esquire for free too. Gotta love those free mag subscriptions. My GF usually steals those from me though.

Yeah, it's out of control. That's basically why I stopped reading magazines altogether. It's annoying as hell to see those lame ads after each page and impossible to find an article you are looking for when consecutive pages are un-numbered ads.
