They're useless unless everyone has one.

Dell and Gateway still offer GeForce 4 MXes, but soon, perhaps, no new pc will contain any card weaker than a Radeon 9000 or a GeForce FX 5200.

Does anyone know where I can find statistics on video card sales and usage, among all pcs manufactured within the past few years? The closest thing I've found is on Futuremark.com, but that represents an unusual data set.

I think the time is almost right...

Pretty much you can count on most people having at least GF2 speed vid cards of some sort.

Where you would find the data, i do not know.

My friend is about to pick up a computer through work, he got a bunch of packages to pick from.
The best vid card in any of them was a 128 MB GF4-MX, the worst was a TNT2-M64(yes TNT2, not even GF-MX).

Don't count on those crappy cards to go away soon, there are still plenty of boxes sold with GF2-MX's, Rage128's, etc.

I for one am glad there are compnies like id out there, who keep pushing the limits.
