GPU upgrade GTX 670 to RX580 8gb

I have been contemplating an upgrade of GPU due to a new monitor purchase I recently made.

Relevant PC Specs (built it back in 2012):
i7 3770K
Asus DII GTX670 2GB
16GB Ram
256GB Samsung 830 SSD
Corsair AX650 Gold PS
Monitor: LG 34" UW 2560 x 1080, 75Hz Refresh Rate w/ FreeSync

Thinking of upgrading to this for $240 after rebate:
http://www.microcenter.com/product/...eon_RX_580_Dual-Fan_8GB_GDDR5_PCIe_Video_Card

It would take advantage of the FreeSync.

The only game I currently play is Diablo 3 ROS at 2560x1080 with everything high and 8X Antilansing. I notice a little bit of studder in the game for a few moments in the home/town areas only. Generally I have not really noticed lag or issues when actually fighting. I previously played at 1920x1080/high/8x and never had a hiccup. I don't plan to play any other games (nor do I have time to).

So it is a worthwhile/good upgrade? Thanks for the input.

Personally, I don't think it is unless money is no object for you.

Otherwise, I'd save the $$$ and put it towards a new rig in the future. Maybe freesync would look a lot better, but it doesn't sound as though performance is suffering enough where it matters that you should care.

Its a great card for max details at 1080p in most games, though it is going to be wasted a lot on D3 as it is not a graphically demanding game.

Maybe look into how well SLI scales in that game. As long as youre not running into VRAM limitations, adding a second 670 might be a much cheaper option to give you exactly what you want.

Since you have Freesync then a 580 is the way to go for sure. I have a 570 with Freesync monitor and so far it's been a great combination.

OP - dont do this. Going multi-gpu when you could just buy a faster card = terrible stutterfest and compatibility issues galore. Don't do it.

I'd get the 580 and get mileage out of freesync, as well as get a good step up in speed from a 670.

It would be a fine upgrade, though I am not sure it is necessary if you don't plan to play any other games.

What experience do you have with multi-GPU solutions?

OP, I think the 580 route is your best bet.

No need for an entirely new rig at all, I’m running a 3770k and there’s zero games that I can’t hit 100fps on as long as I’m not GPU limited, so you’re good there for some time to come.

Do stay away from SLI it blows especially with older cards that drivers are no longer catered too. I had SLI 680s and was far happier with a single 980Ti.

I just dumped my 290 crossfire because of how infrequently it worked without issue. Multi Gpu sucks in todays games. I know you're going to deny it, but you're wrong. It's not good. It worked pretty good back in DX9 days, I had a 8800 GTS sli back in the day too

I was looking into upgrading my 670 to a 580, and have near identical specs aside from the cpu. I have a 2700k. I just got a Dell 4k monitor, and thinking of upgrading but also not sure if it's worth it.

If you're gaming at 4K, you'll want to aim higher than a 580

4k console ports and lightweight games is ok on RX580. Otherwise if you want to play AAA games is better to get a 1080Ti or at least a Vega56 in case you have a freesync monitor.
