GPU running at 86c... should I be worried?

I just got this GTX 560 yesterday. It runs great, and so far it seems very stable.

After running some graphics intensive titles (like Crysis 2 @DX11) I looked at evga precision and noticed that the GPU core temperature was peaking at around 86 Celsius. The fan was running full speed while gaming.

Is this too hot? Should I be worried about this?

what kind of case do you have? What are your ambient temps?

It seems pretty high to me. My 460 at 850MHz never gets that hot but I have it in a well ventilated case (HAF 922)

I have a pretty generic case. Though it does have front and back 120mm fans and a CPU fan duct. It does seem crowded inside though. Could that be it?

By ambient temps are you referring to room temp or case temp?

You should definitely look into it. The GPU itself can withstand that temperature for a long time, but 86C is hot for that card so something is up. It's probably an airflow issue with your case, resulting in heat buildup after several hours of play.

That temp is normal for most GPUs and wont harm the card. However, it is not typical for the 560, which usually is about 65-75c load. I'd say you have poor air flow in the case.
