I could not find a link to anyone disassembling a 5670, but I found one with a 5770 that may at least give you the idea of how to take a GPU a part and reassemble it. Near 6:15, they take the HSF off the card. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6D6dsQM3q8Q

Your card is different, but it is still fairly similar.

Note: I did not watch but a few seconds of the video, so the quality of the video may not be great.

I'm really trying to figure this out myself so i learn, I thought i had a handle on this. To be clear, my card is plugged into the board, and nothing else is in contact with it

Just take a picture of the card. Really, you need to find someone to do this for you. No offense, but your level, of understanding is far too low for you to be helped without step-by-step help.

Thanks for the help, I just decided to end up replacing the card since i'm fairly sure It got fried earlier before i fixed the temp problem
