GPU questions

Hey guys I have a couple of questions on the GPU front.

1.) Can you run both the GPU client and the "regular" folding client at the same time?

2.) I have an opportunity to purchase a X1900 XT that has been flashed to XTX specs will it still preform like an XTX card?

3.) Has anyone tried the Crossfire version of the GPU client?

Thanks,
Chris

You can run both at the same time.

One must be a console so that you can change the MachineID to something other than 1.

The GPU client uses most of one CPU core.

Thanks Gleem, I am thinking of a Quad core so it looks like I will need to keep one cores for the GPU.

Untill the new gpu client arrives with its support for the Newer ATI cards, you are better off running 2x smp clients rather than 1 smp and 1 gpu. The X19xx series produce ~550 points per day. you should find that a single core from the quad would produce more if paired up with its other core (ie core 1 & 2 together and core 3 & 4 togther)using the smp client.

Thanks slider.

Any idea when the new GPU client come out?

1. Yes I did on my quad ,the GPU client took the equivalent CPU power of one core but it spread it across all 4 cores. But as mentioned by slider76 2xSMP is faster anyway.

2.Yes if it can stabily run at the XTX specs ,the only difference is a small increase in GPU & RAM clock speeds ,see here

3.Yes but AFAIK not here ,check out the F@H GPU forum section.
