GPU question. is mine still up to scratch?

in late 2012 i built a new PC but never bothered to put my ATi 6950 (bios flashed to a 6970) into it. have been using the igpu instead which works well enough that bar gaming i don't have to worry about it

i want to get back onto my steam list and am guessing this is still a decent card if my laptop (555gt) was capable of gaming @ 720p

Its a little under half the speed of the top end of AMD cards today, so still pretty decent.

Can't see your signature but up to 1080p in eg bf4 at eg med or high setting without msaa you should do fine. M555 even oc is slower at 720. Frag on no probs

6970 is still a very decent gaming card. Should handle most games at high settings with smooth fps without a problem, as long as the resolution is 1080p or less.

i have a 2560x1600 monitor but prefer a 1080p plasma instead.

good to know. i assume AC3 and 4 are similar engines/demands to AC2/brotherhood revelations so they should be fine. real question is how crysis 3 will behave. and if it's out on steam yet actually.
